Qbyte Financial uses a number of static codes as system defaults. The values for User-Defined codes must be entered before you begin entering information into the system. Qbyte Financial also offers a range of System-Defined codes with system-defined values that the user cannot modify.

These static codes include:

  • Code Types—these are user-defined and system-defined values which are validated and controlled by codes and are not the code values themselves. For example, currency code is a code type, and Australian dollars is a code value.

There are two types of codes you need to consider when you set up Qbyte Financial:

This system code type...

System-Defined Code Type

Preset code types delivered with Qbyte Financial.
You cannot change system-defined code types, however you can view them and you can choose whether or not to apply them.
Use the Codes screen (ACTS017) to view these codes.

User-Defined Code Type

Code types that the user provides code values for according to the company’s policies and procedures. The User-Defined check box will be set to Yes.
Typically, the System Administrator changes the code values associated with these code types in the Codes screen (ACTS017).

  • System Defaults—these are a set of default settings that define how Qbyte Financial operates within your installation. Typically, you define how your installation will use these defaults only once, but you can change them periodically. You will set up these defaults in the System Defaults and Controls screen (AUCS006) and will generally be the only user with the privilege to view and change them.
