Downloading Files

Google Chrome (as of version 110.x) introduced an option to enable a Download Bubble where recently downloaded files can be found.  The Download Bubble was designed to replace the Download Shelf functionality in Google Chrome.

As of Chrome version 119 the Download Bubble is now mandatory and the Download Shelf can no longer be restored.

Exporting report output from Qbyte Optix will appear in the browser as follows:

  1. The Initial pop-up window will have an icon near the top right corner with the file just downloaded.

Routinely delete the browser history

Google Chrome routinely caches pages in order to load pages faster for performance benefits. This does not work very well with a live environment such as Qbyte Financial or Qbyte Optix where data is constantly changing. Clearing your browser history weekly is recommended for optimal performance.

1. In the Google Chrome browser, go to the menu > Delete browsing data.

2. In the Advanced tab, change the Time range to All time.

3. Check Browsing history; Download history; Cookies and other site data; Cached images and files; Autofill form data; Site Settings; and Hosted app data.

Adobe Acrobat Extension

Users who install the Adobe Reader application to view PDFs may have the associated Google Chrome extension installed at the same time.  This Chrome extension can be disruptive to viewing PDF output files in Qbyte Financial as it ends up “competing with” Chrome’s built-in PDF reader to open the file, often resulting in errors in opening the PDF in Chrome.  Because of this, IFS recommends either disabling the extension or setting it so that the extension is not the default in opening PDFs.

Follow these steps to manage extensions:

  1. Go to the Google Chrome menu > Extensions > Manage Extensions, or click on the Extensions button > Manage Extensions
