How Do I Configure Effluent Wells?
Introduction
The following are possible effluent well scenarios and how you may set them up within Qbyte Metrix.
Scenario 1 - Basic Effluent
This scenario is when all effluent wells in an effluent battery require effluent testing and therefore each effluent well will have an Effluent Correction Factor, a Water Gas Ratio and a Condensate Gas Ratio. The battery oil production will be prorated based on the well's Condensate Gas Ratio and the water production will be prorated based on the well's Water Gas Ratio.
Well Production Master
The Fluid Type at the well is Effluent. The Measurement Type is TEST - Test To Test and the Report Liquid as Condensate is Yes.
Well Production Factors
The Effluent Correction Factor will be entered in the Gas Meter Factor in Qbyte Metrix. The Water Gas Ratio which will be entered in the Water Gas Ratio Factor in Qbyte Metrix along with the Water Gas Ratio Code being set to well-level. The Condensate Gas Ratio will be entered in the Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Factor along with the Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Code being set to well-level.
Battery Factors
The Prorate Oil Gas Ratio and Prorate Water Gas Ratio will be set to Yes on the Battery Production tab of the Battery Maintenance screen.
Battery Balance
Battery Balance Summary
The calculated Oil/Condensate Volume (Total OGR) and the Water Volume (Total WGR) will be displayed on the Battery Balance Summary screen.
Battery Balance Well Input
The Gas Meter Factor is applied to the Gas Volume entered at the well. The water estimate calculated (based on the WGR) and condensate estimate (calculated based on the OGR) is displayed per well.
Battery Balance Oil
The Oil Balance tab will display the total OGR for the battery.
Battery Balance Water
The Water Balance tab will display the total WGR for the battery.
Scenario 2 - Effluent Test Exempt Wells with Battery Oil Gas Ratio and Water Gas Ratio
This scenario is when all effluent wells in an effluent battery are effluent testing exempt and there is a calculated battery Condensate Gas Ratio and a calculated battery Water Gas Ratio. Since there is no effluent testing occurring for each effluent well, each effluent well will have an Effluent Correction Factor of 1.
In addition, a battery Water Gas Ratio and Condensate Gas Ratio will be calculated and used for each effluent well. The battery Oil Production will be prorated based on the battery Condensate Gas Ratio and the Water Production will be prorated based on the battery Water Gas Ratio.
Well Production Master
The Fluid Type at the well is Effluent. The Measurement Type is TEST - Test To Test and the Report Liquid as Condensate is Yes.
Well Production Factors
The Effluent Correction Factor will be entered in the Gas Meter Factor in Qbyte Metrix (1.00000000). The Water Gas Ratio Code will be set to Battery-level and the Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Code will be set to Battery-level.
Battery Production Factors
The battery Water Gas Ratio will be entered in the Water Gas Ratio Factor in Qbyte Metrix, and the battery Condensate Gas Ratio will be entered in the Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Factor. The Prorate Oil Gas Ratio and Prorate Water Gas Ratio will be set to Yes.
The Water estimate calculated based on the WGR (Battery-level) and condensate estimate calculated based on the OGR (Battery-level) is displayed per well.
Scenario 3 - Effluent Test Exempt Wells with Battery Oil Gas Ratio and Water Based on Gas
This scenario is when all effluent wells in an effluent battery are effluent testing exempt and there is a calculated battery Condensate Gas Ratio but instead of using a battery Water Gas Ratio the wells Water will be based on their Gas. Since there is no effluent testing occurring for each effluent well, each effluent well will have an Effluent Correction Factor of 1.
In addition, a battery Condensate Gas Ratio will be calculated and used for each effluent well to determine Condensate estimate. Each well's Gas estimate will be used as their Water estimate. The battery Oil production will be prorated based on the battery Condensate Gas Ratio and the Water production will be prorated based on Gas.
The Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Code will be set to Battery-level and the Water Gas Ratio Code will be set to blank.
Battery Production Factors
The battery Water Gas Ratio will be entered in the Water Gas Ratio Factor in Qbyte Metrix and the battery Condensate Gas Ratio will be entered in the Oil/Condensate Gas Ratio Factor. The Prorate Oil Gas Ratio and Prorate Water Based On Gas will be set to Yes, with Prorate Water Gas Ratio set to No.
When using Prorate Water Based on Gas = Yes, the Water Proration Factor will be reported on the Petrinex Volumetric report as 1.00000. But, Qbyte Metrix will continue to calculate the “true” proration factor, and any proration factor validations (i.e. Measurement Edits) will be based on the “true” proration factor. Therefore, anyone using this option and Measurement Edits may want to customize the Water Proration Factor edits to be Exempt to avoid continually “acknowledging” the Measurement Edit errors each month.
Battery Balance
Battery Balance Summary
The calculated Oil/Condensate Volume (Total OGR) and the Water Volume (Total on Gas) will be displayed on the Battery Balance Summary screen.
Battery Balance Well Input
The Gas Meter Factor is applied to the Gas Volume entered at the well. The condensate estimate calculated based on the OGR (battery-level) and the water estimate based on Gas is displayed per well.
Battery Volumetric
When the option Prorate Water Based on Gas is Yes (at the battery) the Water Proration Factor will be reported as 1.000 on the Petrinex Volumetric report.
