Additional Spreadsheet Import Templates

Spreadsheet imports provide a quick way to get data loaded. The following template types have been added to Qbyte Metrix:

  • FACILITYDEFAULTPRICE - This template can be used to update facility default prices.

  • OILVALUATIONTRANS - Use this template to update oil valuation transportation rates for oil valuation RTP submissions.

  • ROYALTYGLOBALFACTOR - This template type gives the user the ability to import royalty global factors to Qbyte Metrix.

  • ROYALTYOBLIGATION - Use this template to create/update royalty obligation masters.

  • ROYALTYOBLIGATIONHDR - Use this template to create royalty obligation masters with no formula attached. These obligations are automatically set to Pending status.

  • WELLMASTERCREATION - This template can be used to create well masters.

  • WELLWGROGR- Use this template to update Well Water Gas Ratio/Oil Gas Ratio Factors.

Qbyte Metrix now has 15 templates that provide flexibility when importing or updating your data.

Battery/Well Estimate Calculations

Several new options were added to use when calculating battery/well estimates, which include:

  • Functionality related to effluent wells and batteries:

    •

      • There is a new Fluid Type of Effluent available on both the Well Maintenance Master and Battery Maintenance Master screens.

      • For more detailed information on how the new fluid types and the following new functionality can be used to address many effluent scenarios see How Do I Configure Effluent Wells.

Although the functionality described below was created for effluent properties, it can also be useful in other situations and is not limited to effluent properties only:

  • Well Gas Meter Factor functionality:

    • This factor is available on the Well Maintenance Production screen, and can be used to correct gas production volumes entered for the well. This factor is similar to the existing Oil Meter Factor but it applies to gas production.

Note: This may also be used as an Effluent Correction Factor.

  • Functionality for Oil (or Condensate) Gas Ratios to be entered at either a Battery or Well:

    • An Oil Gas Ratio Factor is available on the Battery Maintenance Production screen. An Oil Gas Ratio Factor and Test Date are now available on the Well Maintenance Production screen along with an Oil Gas Ratio Code to indicate whether there is an Oil Gas Ratio (OGR) to be applied at the well, and if so at what level the OGR will be entered (well or battery level).

  • Functionality for Battery level Water Gas Ratios to be entered:

    • A Water Gas Ratio Factor is available on the Battery Maintenance Production screen. A Water Gas Ratio Code is available on the Well Maintenance Production screen to indicate whether there is a Water Gas Ratio (WGR) to be applied at the well, and if so at what level the WGR will be entered (well or battery level).

  • Functionality to calculate well water estimates based on the well’s gas production:

    • This is useful for those batteries that have water production but have no well-level test/measured water volumes or Water Gas Ratios. Through a new field Prorate Water Based On Gas on the Battery Maintenance Production screen, this allows water to be prorated down to the wells in the battery based on their gas production.

Ability to Shut-in Partner Operated Wells

The ability to shut in a well has been added to the Wellhead tab of the Partner Operated Battery Balance screen. A well can be shut-in manually or by spreadsheet upload based on the SHUTIN activity record. Any facility charges with a formula using a shut-in lookup table will now use the shut-in indicator at the well to correctly calculate the charge.

The Partner Operated Facility Process Details report has also been modified to display the Shut-in Status within the Wellhead Production section of the report.

Facility 'Not Balanced' Checklist

Qbyte Metrix balance screens indicate when facilities are Not Balanced. To help clients identify why a facility is unbalanced, a new screen was created to provide a detailed explanation.

To access this screen, a Balance Checks link has been added to the Battery Balance, GGS BalanceGas Flow Balance and Plant Balance screens. This link appears to the right of the Not Balanced text, only when the facility is not balanced.

When this link is selected all balance validations are executed again, and the Balance Check Details window is displayed. This window displays the results of the validations.

  • A green  check mark indicates validations that are successful

  • A red X indicates the validations that failed

  • A simple box with a dash indicates a validation that was not run due to a previous validation failing

JIBLink/EnergyLink Upload Enhancement

The Qbyte Metrix JIBLink process has been enhanced to create an XML format file in the format required by EnergyLink, in addition to the existing .LST and .CSV files. Clients can now choose to upload one XML format file instead of many .LST and .CSV files.

The .CSV and the .LST files will still be created by Qbyte Metrix, but can be disabled using the System Configuration → Function Implementation option Produce JIBLink CSV and LST files.

Ability to Flow Gas Directly from Battery to Plant

Qbyte Metrix has added the ability to flow gas directly from battery to plant for gas flow and non-gas flow control groups. This enhancement streamlines business processes, reduces workarounds, and provides business functionality due to changing government compliance rules.

Note: Control groups where Gas Gathering Systems (GGS) have been created as a workaround to flow the gas from the battery to the plant can still be used.

To take advantage of this enhancement:

1. Remove any receipts and dispositions from or to the GGS.

2. Edit the Schematic for the Production Date/Control Group and remove the GGS where applicable.

3. Once the Schematic has been changed, from the Battery Balance, add the disposition of Gas directly from the battery to the plant.

Gas and Raw Gas Inventory Transfer between Gas Flow Facilities

Qbyte Metrix has enhanced the concept of Inventory Transfers between two Gas Flow enabled facilities to include products Gas and Raw Gas. Now, Inventory Transfers are available for all products, except products that use the Balance Only allocation method.

Note: Inventory Transfers are similar to the Delivery disposition in that volumes are sent over to the receiving facility at the entity/owner level. The main difference is that Inventory Transfers will be displayed as Outside Receipts at the receiving facility and therefore will NOT go through the facility’s Allocation processing (they will NOT participate in any shrinkage, i.e. consumption allocation, by-product production, etc.). They will go through the receiving facility’s Market Master processing, and can be transferred along (again using Inventory Transfer dispositions) to other facilities or sold directly at the receiving facility.

User Maintenance

A new Resulting Permissions grid has been added to the Role tab to allow users to see the permissions granted when assigning Corporate Roles to a user. The following additional changes have also been made:

  • The User menu option has been renamed to User Maintenance (Administration → Security). The screen header will always be User Maintenance regardless of the tab selected.

  • The Role menu option has been renamed to Role Maintenance (Administration → Security). The screen header will always be Role Maintenance regardless of the tab selected.

  • Changes made to the Role Maintenance screen are now audited.

Updated GEF's

The Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPA) has revised the Table of Physical Properties of Hydrocarbons and Other Compounds effective 1 January 2017 (GPA-2145-16). All products added to new plants and gas flow GGS/battery will now display the newly published Gas Equivalent Factors (GEF). Products added to new plants and gas flow GGS/battery after January 1, 2017 and before Qbyte Metrix 1.9, must be manually updated by the client for each production month.

Note: The GEF Factor displayed on the GPSA Component Factors menu (Administration → Work Management Control) has not been changed as all changes to this table must be done by clients. Clients will need to purchase the GPA publications and update the GPSA table manually.

Enhancements to Qbyte Metrix Integration

The following enhancements have been made:

  • To simplify the integration of wells and cost centres we have enhanced the Well Integration process to have it automatically create any cost centres associated with the wells being integrated if they do not already exist. To enable this functionality, the user should keep Well Integration active in Qbyte Metrix, but should inactivate the Cost Centre Integration. When this situation is encountered when integrating wells, if the cost centre on the well being integrated does not exist in Qbyte Metrix it will be created (as a non-system-generated cost centre).

  • The Process Status of rows with integration errors will now be set to Non-Processed with an Error Indicator of Error. This means that rows with errors can be integrated again after the errors have been fixed. This change applies to all the Integration tabs.

  • The Province and Unique Well Identifier columns have been added to the Well tab of the Process Integrations screen (Application Integration → Process).

Note: To make room in the grid, the Field Pool Code and User Defined 1 columns have been removed.

  • The following Well fields will be integrated into Qbyte Metrix only when the integration field value is not blank:

    • Field Code

    • Pool Code

    • PA Responsible

    • User Defined 1

    • User Defined 2

    • Field/Pool Code (Ontario Only)

    • Government License # (Ontario Only)

    • Manitoba Well Type (Manitoba Only)

    • The Fluid Type - This will only be integrated for new wells. On a new well, i f the Qbyte Financial Product is blank, the Qbyte Metrix Fluid Type is defaulted to GAS. When the well is re-integrated, the Fluid Type is not integrated.

  • When the Well Master is locked for integration (Application IntegrationIntegration Settings) the following fields are now enabled and editable in the Well Maintenance screen:

    • Fluid Type

    • Field/Pool Code (Ontario only)

    • Field Code

    • Pool Code

    • PA Responsible

    • User Defined 1

    • User Defined 2

    • MB Well Type (Manitoba only)

    • Government License (Ontario Only)

Qbyte Financial Identifier Cross Reference

For clients using Qbyte Financial, a new tab called FM Cross Reference has been added (Financial → Definitions). This new tab is conditionally visible based on a new Function Implementation ( Sending Voucher files to Qbyte FM ) option within System Configuration. Since many Qbyte Metrix clients use Qbyte Financial, this option will default to Yes upon release.

This tab allows users to maintain a Qbyte Financial Identifier for various Qbyte Metrix entities.  There are two main reasons for using a Qbyte Financial Identifier:

  • When generating the filename for the Voucher file created in Qbyte Metrix to be uploaded into Qbyte Financial.

    • Due to restrictions in Qbyte Financial related to voucher filenames, it may be necessary to override the Qbyte Metrix ID for the entity (Control Group, Region or Financial Group) that the voucher was processed for with a different Qbyte Financial Identifier to be used in the generation of the filename.

  • When the Invoice Number (referred to as Reference in Qbyte Metrix) is being generated for an account transaction within the voucher

    • The use of a Qbyte Financial Identifier may be required for Invoice Numbers, again due to size restrictions in Qbyte Financial, but also as a mechanism to group multiple transactions together under a single Invoice Number.

Separate security to Un- Interface Control Groups

A new security component has been created to allow users to Un-Interface (ControlGroupUninterface - Un-Interface Control Groups (Explorer Status tab) control groups. The existing security component (ControlGroupLock - Lock/Unlock Control Groups) previously controlled both un-interfacing and locking but will now only be used to Lock/Unlock Control Groups (Control Group Lock screen). See the Security Components section for more information.

Cost Centre Maintenance

The Cost Centre Maintenance screen has been enhanced to improve user experience and performance.

  • The screen header has been changed to Cost Centre Maintenance.

  • Performance has been improved when loading the Cost Centre Maintenance screen.

  • Users are now unable to delete cost centres that are associated with a battery, GGS, plant, injection facility, unit or facility charge.

User Comments can be added to Battery Water Receipts and Dispositions

Qbyte Metrix now provides users the ability to add a comment to each Battery Water Receipt and Disposition. This can be useful to help identify the reasons for multiple water dispositions/receipts from/to the same facility/delivery system.

Enhanced Advance Search

The following changes have been made to the Well, Battery, GGS, Plant and Injection Facility Advanced Search windows:

  • The criteria section of the Advanced search windows has been re-organized into three columns.

  • The P roduction Status has been added as criteria (with a drop-down containing blank, On Production and Off Production). The Production Status is also displayed in the results grid.

  • The result grid columns are now in the same order as the criteria fields.

  • Disabled criteria fields are now not displayed in the results grid.

Expanded list of Reports invoked from Qbyte Metrix Explorer

The following reports can be launched directly from the Qbyte Metrix Explorer in addition to the reports already available:

Facility & Control Group Level:

  • Purchaser Delivery Summary

  • Energy Sales Allocation

  • Facility Production Balance

  • Gas and Products Allocation Details

Control Group Level Only:

  • Facility Charge Calculation Summary

Note: If you use defaults (Corporate or User) for widgets or for reporting options: When reports are invoked from within Qbyte Metrix, the defaults will be ignored. The reports will only show results for the Qbyte Metrix Production Date and Facility/Entity selected.

Colour-coded confirmation dialog boxes expanded to more screens

Qbyte Metrix has expanded the number of screens where colour-coded dialog boxes will pop-up. These colour-coded pop-up messages help visually identify the severity of the pop-up message:

  • Blue - Confirmation/Question

  • Green - Information

  • Orange - Deletion

Royalty Enhancements

SUMMARY

FEATURE NAME

SUMMARY

Enhancement to Active Status on Royalty Obligations

There are two new options for the Active Status on Royalty Obligation Masters: Pending and Expired. Obligation masters using these statuses will NOT be calculated and will therefore also NOT appear on a financial voucher. Since they are not being calculated, they also do not require a Formula ID. The Pending Status may be useful when you are implementing new royalties and you have not built or assigned a Formula ID yet, but you want to at least enter a header or placeholder for the obligation.

At some point in the future, a Pending obligation would typically become Active once an appropriate Formula has been determined and verified.

The Expired status may be useful for obligations that are to be removed in the future. The obligation will no longer be calculated but the obligation master would still exist. This can be very helpful especially for Taken-In-Kind royalties, as the obligation master must remain until all inventories of the Taken-In-Kind royalty have been sold. Even though the obligation should no longer be calculated as of a certain production date, the obligation master needs to exist until all volumes have been sold (and therefore booked).

Enhanced Royalty Global Factor Input

To improve the user experience, authorized users are now able to create and input royalty user-defined global factors using one menu or screen.

  • Scroll buttons have been added around the Production Date to make it easier for the user to view and/or update Global Factors across multiple dates.

  • A new Qbyte Optix report called Royalty Global Factor Details can be used to display royalty global factors. Report options are available to include Royalty Formula Usage information and show unused factors only.

  • The Royalty Formula Maintenance screen (Edit) and Royalty Obligation Maintenance → Obligation Factors, now have only one button called Factor.

Note: See the Security Components section for more information on the changes made to existing security components.

Enhancements to IOGC

Qbyte Metrix now has the ability to re-use values entered/calculated in the royalty obligation within the IOGC Oil/Gas royalty statement. Clients previously had to enter the calculated prices/GJ's in the various IOGC price override screens within Qbyte Metrix, which was time consuming. To re-use these values the following Store type obligation Factors can be used within the royalty formula:

  • Store: IOGC Heat Content (new)

  • Store IOGC Price per GJ (new)

  • Store: IOGC Reported Sales Price (new)

  • Store: IOGC Gross Royalty Percentage (renamed from Store: Gross Royalty Percentage)

Note: For the Oil/Gas Statement to use the above store factors, the overrides specified in various IOGC price override screens must be removed.

To better identify IOGC specific Royalty Formula Factors the following Factors have been renamed:

  • Price: Reported Sales to Price: IOGC Reported Sales

  • Price: Oil Reference to Price: IOGC Oil Reference

The Remittance Advice (IOGC) report requested at the end of the month is now grouped by the Reserve. The Reserve Name is displayed just above the Royalty Payments section.

Since the monthly due date for IOGC submissions (payments) is the 25th of each month, an option to create an IOGC Royalties Only voucher is available so IOGC transactions can be passed to the financial system before other monthly financial transactions are ready. This allows the user to match the IOGC Royalty Remittance Advice with actual Financial Accounting entries prior to the actual Month End processing.

To use the IOGC Only Voucher functionality, the Function Implementation flag must be enabled (Administration → System Configuration → Function Implementation) and the Region must have the Allow Transaction Type Selection flag set to Yes (Administration → Region → Maintain Region Financial Configuration) See IOGC Only Voucher for more information.

Copy Royalties

Users now have the option to copy Obligation Factor Values (Value or Global Factor ID)  when copying royalty obligations from one well/tract to another. The default value for the new Replace Obligation Factor Values is No. In addition, the duplication type From Well to Well has been renamed to From one Well/Tract to another.

Global Factor ID column on the Obligation Factors tab for Well/Unit Masters

The Global Factor ID column has been added to the following screens:

  • MasterWellsMaintenanceRoyalties tabFreehold/Override/IOGC tabObligation Factors tab

  • MasterEntitiesUnit MaintenanceWells and Tracts in Unit tabRoyalties tabObligation Factors tab

Field Data Capture (FDC) Enhancements

FEATURE NAME

SUMMARY

FEATURE NAME

SUMMARY

New and Enhanced FDC Layouts - Consumption

Qbyte Metrix has been enhanced to allow users the ability to import facility level and facility/usage level consumption volumes using FDC functionality. Only well level consumption volumes could previously be imported into Qbyte Metrix.

  • The existing Well/Facility Consumption ( CONSINPT ) FDC record format has been enhanced to import battery, gathering system and plant level consumption volumes in addition to wells.

  • A new FDC record format Facility/Usage Consumption ( CONSUSG ) has been introduced to allow the user to import battery, gathering system and plant level consumption by usage ID.

Note: Consumption usages must already exist for the facility in order to be imported. The import cannot create usage records for a facility. Both record formats are available as text files and as .CSV .

Note: Consumption volumes at the GGS or plant can only be loaded by the FDC Load by Control Group option. This enhancement does NOT handle the importing of facility/usage/well level volumes. If the user requires volumes allocated down to the facility/usage / well level, the volumes must be entered manually within Qbyte Metrix.

New FDC Layouts - Battery Dispositions and Battery Receipts

Two new record layouts for Facility Dispositions ( FACDISP ) and Facility Receipts ( FACRCPT ) have been created and are available only in CSV format. Clients using the existing BATTRUCK layout (CSV and fixed-length) should transition over to the two new layouts as the BATTRUCK layout will be phased out in a future release of Qbyte Metrix.

Existing FDC layouts (i.e. BATTRUCK) determines the record type based on content within the record, while the two new layouts are one record type per layout.  The Preview screens for these new layouts allow the user to modify all fields within the layout which is also different from the FDC Preview screens for other existing FDC layouts. This new type of Preview screen provides the user with the most flexibility to correct data and address any issues.

FDC Import Screen improvement

Since most clients do not use the assigned FDC System Directory to store their FDC files, the From option now defaults to Non Default Location in the Field Data Capture (Import) screen (Import/ExportField Data CaptureImport).

FDC Load to Ignore Inactive FDC records

The FDC Load process has been changed to ignore rows inactivated by the user on the FDC Preview screen. All inactivated rows for the following FDC formats will now be ignored when loaded by battery or control group:

  • Well Measured (WELLMEAS)

  • Well Test (WELLTEST)

  • Battery Closing Inventories (oil and water) (BATPROD)

  • Battery Dispositions and Receipts (oil and water) (BATTRUCK)

  • Well Injection (Injection Facility) (INJWELL)

  • Well/Facility Consumption (CONSINPT)

  • Facility/Usage Consumption (CONSUSG)

  • Facility Dispositions (oil and water) (FACDISP)

  • Facility Receipts (oil and water) (FACRCPT)

Note: The Gas Analyses Load (GASAN) already ignored inactive rows.

SUMMARY

Enhancements to Oil Valuation RTP

Users can now enter or import the transportation rate to be used for Oil Valuation RTP submissions independent of the market master. The existing Oil Valuation RTP screen has been modified to allow for the entry of transportation rates. It has been redesigned to have multiple tabs (one for valuation data and one for transportation data). In addition, there are a number of new selection options that provide the user with more flexibility regarding the viewing, editing and submission of Oil Valuation RTP data.

The transportation rates are entered by submitting facility, delivering facility, receiving facility and custody transfer point.

  • Once the transportation rates are entered, use the new Apply Rates button to calculate the Transportation Cost on applicable records.

  • The new report Oil Valuation Transportation Rates report can be used to display all transportation rates.

  • All non-zero transportation rates are carried over to the new month in the month end close.

Transportation rates can also be imported by the OILVALUATIONTRANS template (Import Data by Template).

Note: The entered rates are ONLY used for the Oil Valuation RTP, and does not impact any other processing within Qbyte Metrix.

Enhanced Pipeline Splits

The Oil Pipeline Split (Alberta and Saskatchewan) and Generate Oil Valuation Data processes have been modified to handle Petrinex Pipeline Split and Oil Valuation RTP reporting for oil being transferred through more than three levels of batteries.

Note: If users sell receipt volumes out of inventory, and if there are no corresponding transfers in the month that the sales occur, Qbyte Metrix maybe unable to locate the original receiving facility. Therefore, a message in the Message Centre notifies the user that manual adjustments may be required to correct the Oil Pipeline Split and Oil Valuation submissions.

Petrinex menu and screen name changes

The following menu options have been renamed:

  • The SK Oil Pipeline Split Import menu option and screen name has been renamed to Oil Pipleline Split Import (Import/Export → Petrinex)

  • The Generate SK Oil Valuation Data menu option and screen name has been renamed to Generate Oil Valuation Data (Import/Export → Petrinex)

  • The SK Oil Valuation RTP menu option and screen name has been renamed to Oil Valuation RTP (Import/Export → Petrinex)

  • The SK Oil Valuation RTP By Control Group menu option has been renamed to Oil Valuation RTP By Control Group (Import/Export → Petrinex)

Issues Resolved

General

SUMMARY

NOTES

SUMMARY

NOTES

User allowed to perform Corporate Roll regardless of regions carried over or closed

Issue: When the System Configuration option Enable Carry Over of Current Month Control Groups was set to No, Qbyte Metrix allowed the user to perform a Corporate Roll even though not all Regions had been Carried Over or Closed.

Resolution: Qbyte Metrix has been corrected to not allow users to perform a Corporate roll until all regions are Carry Over or Closed.

Corporate Roll process failing when missing Master for an Entity linked to a Reserve Facility (IOGC)

Issue: When a Master was missing for an Entity linked to an IOGC Reserve Facility, the Corporate Roll process failed.

Resolution: The missing Master for the Entity is now ignored during the Corporate Roll process allowing the Corporate Roll to complete successfully.

Consumption Allocation Screen - Slow performance with Advanced Search and Edit buttons

Issue: The Advanced Search and Edit buttons on the Consumption Allocation screen exhibited slow performance when there were multiple wells or tracts linked to the selected usage.

Resolution: Advanced Search and Edit buttons performance on the Consumption Allocation screen has been improved in this situation.

Fuel Receipt from GGS cannot be created at the Battery

Issue: A Fuel Receipt from a Gas Gathering System (GGS) could not be created at the battery.

Resolution: The Battery Balance Gas tab now allows users to create Fuel Receipts from plants, batteries, delivery systems and GGS's.

Plant attached to partner operated battery able to be put on production

Issue: Qbyte Metrix allowed a plant attached to a partner operated battery to be put on production. When the user processed this plant after processing the partner operated battery, the production and sales data for the battery was deleted.

Resolution: An error message is now displayed when placing a plant on production if the plant is linked to a partner operated battery.

Number of Attached wells count on Battery Maintenance → Wells incorrect

Issue: The Number of Attached Wells count on the Battery Maintenance → Wells tab was not displaying the correct number of wells. The issue occurred when a user filtered the well list in order to find and remove a well(s) from the battery. The filtering action condensed the well list and the Number of Attached Wells count incorrectly reflected this reduced count when the battery was saved.

Resolution: The Number of Attached Wells count displayed in the Battery Maintenance → Wells tab is now correctly calculated and displayed when the battery is saved. If the Number of Attached Wells count displayed at the battery is already incorrect, you can change and re-save your battery.

GGS not balanced when only inlet volume to GGS is Raw Gas receipt from a plant

Issue:  A GGS could not be balanced when the only inlet volume to the GGS was a raw gas receipt from a plant.

Resolution: The above issue has been corrected.

Error message when Production History selected from Battery Balance Well Input screen

Issue: When Production History was selected from the Battery Balance Well Input screen, error messages indicated that there was no production hours saved for that well. Unsaved changes on the well input screen were lost without warning when Production History was selected. After selecting Cancel from the Production History screen, the originally selected well was no longer selected in the Well Input screen.

Resolution: An Unsaved Changes pop-up is now displayed when Production History is selected from the Well Input screen. Errors are no longer displayed if the selected well does not have any production hours. When returning from the Production History screen, the originally selected well is still selected.

Failed to upload Westflo Plant Allocation Reports (Shipper/RPO) when Period Start Date had leading zeros

Issue: Qbyte Metrix failed to upload Westflo Plant Allocation reports (Shipper/RPO) when the Period Start Date was formatted with leading zeroes, i.e. 01-JUN-2017.

Resolution: Qbyte Metrix can now upload Westflo Plant Allocation reports that have the Period Start Date formatted with leading zeroes.

User is unable to Integrate a DOI

Issue: Integrating a DOI with a process status of Non-Processed, failed when the same DOI existed with a process status of Previously Deleted (Application IntegrationProcessDOI tab)

Resolution: DOI integration has been changed to correctly integrate DOI's regardless of any Previously Deleted integration rows.

Unable to clear and reload the IPS order table when there are water dispositions at the Gas Gathering System

Issue: An exception error occurred during the clear and reload of the IPS Order Table for a Gas Gathering System that had water dispositions.

Resolution: The IPS order table can now be successfully regenerated for Gathering Systems that have water dispositions.

Unable to create an amendment for a Single Date

Issue: Users were unable to create an amendment for a Single Date when the Control Group Autosuggest was used to select the control group. The Control Group Autosuggest did not use the correct production date to determine which control groups were suggested. Additionally, when creating an amendment for a Single Date the Control Group Advanced Search pop-up did not display the correct Default Date .

Resolution: When creating an amendment for a Single Date the Control Group Autosuggest now uses the From Production Date, thereby allowing users to create an amendment. The From Production Date is also displayed as the Default Date in the Control Group Advanced Search pop-up.

Screen unexpectedly slow when maintaining royalty obligations for wells

Issue: When maintaining royalty obligations for wells (Master → Wells → Royalties tab) and tracts (Master> Entities → Unit Maintenance → Wells and Tracts in Unit tab → Royalties tab), the screen was unexpectedly slow when trying to retrieve royalty obligations for wells/tracts that did not have any royalty obligations.

Resolution: This screen performance issue has been resolved for wells/tracts that do not have any royalty obligations.

When a facility that has a cross control group transfer is processed, the message centre does not display any info/exception messages

Issue: When a facility that has a cross control group transfer was processed, the message centre did not always display info/exception messages as expected. The transfer process was checking the processed step of the receiving control group instead of the receiving facility to generate the messages.

Resolution: When a facility that has a cross control group transfer is processed, the processed step of the receiving facility is checked when generating the appropriate info/exception messages in the message centre. For example:

  • Cross Control Group disposition to Battery - AKEB201: Caused that facility to be reset based on System Configuration Function Implementation option Reset Cross Control Group Transfers.

  • Cross Control Group disposition to Battery - AKEB201: It should be re-processed but receiving Control Group AKECG201 is locked/closed.

  • Cross Control Group disposition to Battery - AKEB201: It should be re-processed. Was not automatically reset based on System Configuration Function Implementation option Reset Cross Control Group Transfers.

Market Master

SUMMARY

NOTES

SUMMARY

NOTES

Unable to take the facility off production after using the Remove Unmatched Disposition button from the Market Master screen

Issue: Using Remove Unmatched Disposition in the Market Master screen left records in the database if there were multiple allocation groups that did not have matching Balance Dispositions. This would prevent the user from taking the facility off production.

Resolution: The Market Master screen now correctly removes unmatched dispositions that have multiple allocation groups.

Incorrect default purchaser type when adding a purchaser

Issue: When a purchaser was added to a Battery-to-Battery Oil Transfer or a Facility-to-Facility Inventory Transfer Disposition in the market master, the default purchaser type was set to Purchaser instead of Facility Transfer.

Resolution: The default Purchaser Type for Battery-to-Battery Oil Transfer or Facility-to-Facility Inventory Transfer Dispositions is now set to Facility Transfer.

Error message incorrectly displayed in Market Master Mass Maintenance screen

Issue: In the Market Master Mass Maintenance screen, Qbyte Metrix incorrectly displayed an error message stating that the user did not have security access when copying from one facility to another across a date range.

Resolution: This screen now correctly uses the MarketMasterEdit security component to validate Control Group access based on corporate security roles.

Step02 process failing due to Market Master purchaser row setup

Issue: When a market master purchaser row was set up with Force Sales = User Input set to Yes, and the market master disposition was changed to use the Allocation Method as System Generated, the Step02 processing failed.

Resolution: Now, when a market master disposition is changed to use System Generated Allocation Method, Force Sales = User Input is automatically set to No because it is not valid for the Allocation Method.

Market Master fields with invalid IDs

Issue: The following fields in the market master were successfully saved even though they contained invalid IDs:

  • Market Master Disposition: Destination ID and Flow ID Out

  • Market Master Purchaser: Purchaser ID, Flow ID Directed Out, Included Battery ID, Included Unit ID, Included Flow ID, Participant Group, and Override Split Carrier

  • Market Master Participant: Well/Tract ID and Owner ID

Resolution: Error messages are now displayed if users attempt to save with invalid selections for the above ID's.

Step02 process failed when battery had two market master purchaser lines set up for the same disposition with overlapping participants

Issue:  Step02 failed when it encountered a battery that had two market master purchaser lines set up for the same disposition with overlapping participants (one for all owners and one for a specific owner).

Resolution: An Alert type message is now displayed in the message centre when products are over allocated because of an incorrect market master setup. The Step02 process is successful.

Unable to User Input copied Market Master dispositions with an Allocation Method of User Input

Issue: An error would occur when accessing the User Input screen for copied Market Master dispositions with an Allocation Method of User Input. These records must have been copied in a Qbyte Metrix version before version 1.8.

Resolution: Users can now update the User Input Volumes for any copied Market Master dispositions with an Allocation Method of User Input.

BC08 AND BC09 CSV files not accepted due to incorrect format

Issue: The BC08 and BC09 CSV files generated by Qbyte Metrix were not accepted by the BC Government as the encoding of the generated CSV files were UNIX. The BC08 and BC09 CSV files must be generated in ANSI format.

Resolution: The BC08 and BC09 CSV file formats have been changed to match the encoding required by the BC Government.

BC08 rejected due to no Allocated Marketable Gas for month for the entity

Issue: BC08 report and .CSV displayed Allocated Raw Gas Sales Volumes when there was no Allocated Marketable Gas for the month for the entity. This BC08 was rejected by the BC Government as the Allocated Raw Gas was expected to be zero when the Allocated Marketable Gas is zero. This could happen when:

  • There was no gas production for the month and products were sold from inventory.

  • The produced gas was sold at a different facility than the products were sold from.

  • The produced gas was Taken-In-Kind.

Resolution: The BC08 report and .CSV display Allocated Raw Gas Sales as zero when the Allocated Marketable Gas is zero.

The Gross Royalty Percent and Total Gross Royalty Percent were incorrect On the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement when liquid (by-product) production was from more than one facility

Issue: On the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement, the Gross Royalty Percent and Total Gross Royalty Percent were incorrect when liquid (by-product) production was from more than one facility. The incorrect Total Gross Royalty Percent was causing an incorrect GCA deduction to be calculated and distributed.

Resolution: Liquid (by-product) production from more than one facility is now being accumulated correctly which results in correct GCA calculations and net royalties.

The reported sales volumes were including non-sale type transactions (i.e. transfers) on the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement

Issue: On the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement, reported sales volumes were including non-sale type transactions (i.e. transfers), which resulted in inaccurate sales volumes being reported.

Resolution: Non-sale volumes for gas and by-products are now ignored when determining sales volumes to report on the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement.

The purchaser section of the IOGC Gas Statement was not matching the total sales volume

Issue: The IOGC Volume for Sale Volume (by purchaser) reported in the Purchaser section of the IOGC Gas Statement was not matching the total sales volume due to imprecise rounding.

Resolution: The IOGC Sales Volume reported is now determined using a full proration allocation to correct rounding issues.

Step 6 process failed when an error was encountered on an inactive royalty obligation

Issue: Step06 process failed when an error was encountered on an inactive royalty obligation.

Resolution: Step06 processing now completes successfully and a message is displayed in the Message Centre stating that the royalty obligation is inactive, and errors will be ignored.

When a well/tract swings and produces/sells from more than one facility, the GCA split may not be correct on the IOGC Gas Statement

Issue: When a well/tract swings and produces/sells from more than one facility, the GCA split was not correct on the IOGC Gas Statement. There are two scenarios that may cause this issue:

  • The well/tract has production/sales from multiple facilities but for different products. The same product does not swing. For example: GAS, C3 at plant but COND at GGS.

  • The well/tract has production/sales from multiples facilities for the same product. For example: GAS, C3 at more than one plant.

Resolution: The GCA split is correctly calculated and applied to the IOGC Gas Statement for the above scenarios.

The Gross Royalty Percent and Total Gross Royalty Percent were incorrect on the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement

Issue: On the IOGC Gas Royalty Statement, the Gross Royalty Percent and Total Gross Royalty Percent were incorrect when the liquid (by-product) production was from more than one facility. The incorrect Total Gross Royalty Percent was causing an incorrect GCA deduction to be calculated and distributed.

Resolution: Liquid (by-product) production from more than one facility is now being accumulated correctly which results in correct GCA calculations and net royalties.

SAF/OAF volume not equaling sales volume

Issue: When batteries with the same Petrinex ID had the SAF/OAF generated for each battery and then again for the entire control group, the total SAF/OAF volume did not equal the sales volume.

Resolution: The SAF/OAF generation process has been changed to create the correct SAF/OAF at the facility it is generated at.

Petrinex required the PROC activity to be reported at the Parent Product when a facility is producing a Child Product (IC4-MX, NC4-MX, etc.)

Issue: When a facility is producing a Child Product (IC4-MX, NC4-MX, etc.), Petrinex required the PROC activity to be reported at the Parent Product, while all other activities to be reported at the Child Product on the SAF/OAF. Qbyte Metrix previously reported all activities at the producing product.

Resolution: The SAF/OAF has been modified to report the Parent Product for PROC activities as follows:

  • IC4MX & NC4MX as C4-MX

  • IC4SP & NC4SP as C4-SP

  • IC5MX & NC5MX as C5-MX

  • IC5SP & NC5SP as C5-SP

  • C6MX as C5-MX

  • C6SP as C5-SP

Note: The Child Products will be summarized to the Parent Product level if required.

Clients seeing C5-SP on volumetric reporting when using Report as Product functionality

Issue: When using the Report as Product functionality to report Oil (OIL) as Condensate (COND), some clients were instead seeing C5-SP on their volumetric reporting.

Resolution: Clients encountering this issue are reporting COND as C5-SP so they are now unable to report their OIL as COND using the Report as Product of COND. These clients should select the new Report as Product of WCOND (Wellhead Condensate) in order to report OIL as COND. Clients not encountering this issue can use the Report as Product of either COND or WCOND to report their OIL as COND

SUMMARY

NOTES

Renamed/Changed security components

  • RoyaltyGlobalFactorInputEdit - (Edit FH/ORR Royalty Global Factor Input) has been renamed to RoyaltyUserDefinedFactorEdit (Edit User-Defined Global Factors). This security component controls the Edit button on the User-Defined Global Factors screen.

Note: This is different than existing security in that users with access to this security component currently can update a user-defined global factor value only. Under these new rules, they can also update the Description of a user-defined global factor.

  • RoyaltyFactorEdit - (Edit Royalty Global and Obligation Factors) has been renamed to RoyaltyUserDefinedFactorCreateDelete (Create/Delete User-Defined Global and Obligation Factors) - This security component controls the Create New and Delete buttons on the User-Defined Global Factors and User-Defined Obligation Factors screens. In order to edit an existing user-defined global or obligation factor the user must also have access to the newly named (RoyaltyUserDefinedFactorEdit).

Note: This is different than existing security in that users with access to this security component currently can Create and Delete user-defined global and obligation factors, and can also edit the Description. Users could not initialize a user-defined global factor value (would default to 0 on creation) without also having access to the newly named RoyaltyUserDefinedFactorEdit. Under these new rules the user creating a user-defined global factor can now also set the initial value, however, they can no longer change the Description of an existing user-defined global or obligation factor without also having access to the newly named RoyaltyUserDefinedFactorEdit.

  • ControlGroupLock - Lock/Unlock Control Groups - This security component is now only used to Lock and Unlock control groups. Previously, it also controlled the ability to Un-interface control groups (which now has its' own security component as per item below).

New security components added

The following new security component has been added to Qbyte Metrix. This new security component has not been added to existing Security Roles. It is up to clients to add it when or where necessary:

  • RoyaltiesImportByTemplate (Import Data by Template for Obligation Headers) - Controls user access to use the new Royalty Obligation Template for Headers (ROYALTYOBLIGATIONHDR) only.

The following new security component has been added to Qbyte Metrix. This new security component has been added to existing Security Roles:

  • ControlGroupUninterface - Un-Interface/Un-Finalize Control Groups  - This security component provides the user the ability to un-interface control groups within the Explorer Status tab. Added to all roles based on existing component ControlGroupLock - Lock/Unlock Control Groups .

  • The Created By UserCreate Date, Updated By User and Updated Date columns have been added.

User Details Report

A new Report Option Include Permissions has been added. When the report option is Yes, the following new sections will be visible in the report.

  • Resulting Corporate Permissions section - Displayed after the Corporate Roles section. Resulting Corporate Permissions section displays a list of every Secured Component associated with any of the user's Corporate Roles and the highest level of permission they have for each Secured Component and the Role that they receive that level of permission from.

For example, if the user has more than one Corporate Role and in one Role (SUPERVISOR) they have View Only access to BatteryFactorsEdit and in the other (PRODACCOUNTANT) they have Full Access, then for the BatteryFactorsEdit Secured Component the report would indicate Full Access and the Role would show PRODACCOUNTANT.

  • Control Group Resulting Permissions section - Displayed after the Regions/Control Groups related to Control Group Roles section. This section displays a list of every Secured Component associated with the Control Group Role and the permission that role gives the user.

The new Roles criteria has also been added to the Report Criteria tab. This criteria will allow the client to identify the Users that they want to appear on the report based on a Role or an attribute of a Role, instead of having to explicitly identify the User (using the User Criteria). This new criteria allows the client to find and report on all Users that have a specific Role or on all Users that have a Role that includes a specific Secured Component, or even a specific Permission for a specific Secured Component.

  • Report on all Users that have ADMINISTRATOR Role (either as Corporate Role or a Control Group Role).

  • Report on all Users that have a Role that includes AnalysisEdit (any permission).

  • Report on all Users that have a Role that includes Full Access to WellMaintenanceEdit

Excel Upgrade

The Export to Excel functionality in Qbyte Optix has undergone a technical upgrade to use Excel 2013 technology.  Any Excel file generated from Qbyte Optix using this new technology will be created using the .xlsx extension.  For Qbyte Financial reports which previously exported to Excel using a template, the Excel file can still be created using a .xls extension, but this is not the recommended usage for any of these Qbyte Financial reports, and the capability to create Excel files using the .xls extension for these Qbyte Financial reports will be obsoleted in a future Qbyte Optix release.

Qbyte Optix now works optimally with Excel 2013 and higher for data extracts and reports. Qbyte Optix reports can continue to work with Excel 2003 and lower, however, this is not our recommended configuration and data extracts will not work with this configuration.  In addition, the ability to create custom templates in Excel and load them back into Qbyte Optix for future use has been obsoleted.

The benefits of using Excel 2013 technology are:

  • The previous limitation of 65,500 rows per worksheet does not exist

  • All columns automatically have filter capabilities by default

  • Macros are no longer used to generate the Qbyte Optix output in Excel

  • The presentation of the information is more grid-focused, allowing users to easily create pivot tables

For any Qbyte Financial report that previously had a Qbyte Optix seeded template, the following Excel options will appear under the Export to Excel link:

  • Formatted (.xlsx): This is the new Excel 2013 technology and is presentation ready; this was formerly called Default Template.

  • Unformatted (.xlsx): This is the new Excel 2013 technology and is the raw datasets used to generate the report; this was formerly called Without Template.

  • Formatted (.xls): This is the old Excel 2003 technology and is presentation ready; this was formerly called Default Template

    • Note: This method (using Excel 2003) for these reports which previously had a Qbyte Optix seeded template will be obsoleted in a future release of Qbyte Optix.

For all Qbyte Optix for Qbyte Metrix reports the following Excel options will appear under the Export to Excel link:

  • Unformatted (.xlsx): This is the new Excel 2013 technology and is the raw datasets used to generate the report; this was formerly called Without Template.

  • Report Formatted (.xls): This is the old Excel 2003 technology; this was formerly called Default Template

As always, how much information can be generated for a report and subsequently exported to Excel is dependent on a variety of factors:

  • The Maximum Row Threshold set at the report level or at the Qbyte Optix properties level

  • The memory allocations on the Qbyte Optix server

  • The memory allocations on the individual’s desktop

Note: Two of the available Output Types for Report Criteria Groups (Administration → System Configuration → Month End Processing) have been renamed:

  • Excel with Default Template has been renamed to Export to Excel Formatted

  • Excel without Template has been renamed to Export to Excel Unformatted

Report Criteria Group

Two checkboxes have been added to the existing Report Criteria Groups section of the Report Criteria Groups screen. The two checkboxes are Include Other Users Shared Groups and Include Other Users’ Private Groups, and they are only available to Qbyte Optix System Administrators. These two options allow Qbyte Optix System Administrators to view/edit other users' shared and private Report Criteria Groups.

In addition, a new option entitled Change Report Criteria Group Owner is available to any Qbyte Optix System Administrators in the Existing Report Criteria Groups section of the Report Criteria Groups screen.

Report Image Popups

The report image popups have been removed from Qbyte Optix. In previous releases, a sample report image would appear when you hovered over the menu option.

Report Title

The Report Title can now be edited when saving report criteria.

Find Archived Report Output

The link for the Report Output Name in the Find Archived Report Output section now displays the report criteria group or report criteria name which created the archived output.

Royalty Obligation Details report failing when report criteria included obligations for product BYP

Issue: The Royalty Obligation Details report failed when the report criteria included obligations for product BYP.

Resolution: The Royalty Obligation Details report has been corrected to display data for product BYP obligations. To manually correct this issue, access the System Configuration → Royalties tab and select Save, then re-run the report.

Reports not returning results

Issue: In some instances, the following reports were not returning any results:

  • Facility Charge Calculation Summary

  • Battery Balance

  • Gathering System Balance

  • Injection Facility Balance

  • Sales Meter Component Detail

  • Gas Analysis Tolerance Exceptions

  • Royalty Calculation Details

  • Royalty Obligation Details

Resolution: The above issue has been corrected.

Additional total line displayed when using Inventory Transfer for by-products

Resolution: The additional total line has been suppressed for Inventory Transfer of Gas, Raw Gas and By-Products on the Sales Distribution Summary and Details report.

Reports not displaying data when Facilities criteria were set to a specific Facility Type

Issue: The Gas Shrinkage Summary report and the Gas Shrinkage Activity Details report were not displaying any data when the Facilities criteria were set to select a specific Facility Type.

Resolution: The above issue has been resolved.

Royalty Obligation Details report not displaying correct user-defined Obligation Factors

Issue: The Royalty Obligation Details report was not displaying the correct User-Defined Obligation Factors when the facility in Qbyte Metrix was set up with royalty obligations that shared the same Obligation Number for different products.

Resolution: The Royalty Obligation Details report now correctly displays the User-Defined Obligation Factors.

Royalty formula calculation details for each individual by-product royalty were not being displayed in the JIBLink .lst files, and were sometimes not displayed in the Royalty Owner Summary report

Issue: Clients who set up royalty obligations for product BYP encountered issues where the royalty formula calculation details for each individual by-product royalty were not being displayed in the JIBLink .lst files, and were sometimes not displayed in the Royalty Owner Summary report.

Resolution: Qbyte Metrix will now always display the royalty formula calculation details for the individual by-product royalties (originating from BYP royalties) in both the JIBLink .lst files and the Royalty Owner Summary report.

Reports not displaying data when using a "Enter a List of Business Associates" as the report criteria

Issue: The Royalty Obligation Summary report would not generate when using  Enter a List of Business Associates as the report criteria.

Resolution: Qbyte Optix has been amended so that the Royalty Obligation Summary report can be generated using a list of Business Associates as the report criteria.

The Qbyte Optix System Administrator was not able to delete any custom Qbyte Optix roles.

Issue: The Qbyte Optix System Administrator was not able to delete any custom Qbyte Optix roles.

Resolution:  As an Optix System Administrator a user can now delete custom Optix roles.

Archived Report output was created in an incorrect format when the Output Type was Excel

Issue: If the Output Type saved with the Report Criteria Group (Administration → System Configuration → Month End Processing) was

  • Export to Excel Formatted, the archived reports were created unformatted.

  • Export to Excel Unformatted, the archived reports were created formatted.

Resolution: Archived reports generated by Qbyte Metrix Region Close now use the Output Type saved with the Report Criteria Group (Administration → System Configuration → Month End Processing). Clients using the Export to Excel Formatted and/or Export to Excel Unformatted Output Type must validate/confirm that the archived reports are now generated in the format they require. Use the Submit Test Archive button for each of the Report Criteria Groups with the Report Type set to Export to Excel Formatted and/or Export to Excel Unformatted Output Type and confirm the results before month end.
