Injection Facility - Concurrent/Consecutive Injection

Introduction

The ability to enter/upload and report Consecutive/Concurrent injection (CCI) has now been added to the Injection Facility Balance in Metrix.

When more the one product is injected into a well, the CCI code is used to indicate whether the products were injected concurrently (at the same time) or consecutively (one after another).

The CCI code will only be required if an injection well is reporting injection for more than one product during the production month. The CCI code must be a number 1 – 9.

When a well injects more than one product concurrently, a single CCI code and hours will be entered for that well. All of the products and volumes injected will be entered for the under the single CCI code and hours.

The registry volumetric submission will report each of these products separately. The CCI code for each product will be the same number, but the injection hours will only appear on one of the products.

When a well injects more than one distinct product consecutively, each product injected must be reported, along with the hours of injection for that product. For consecutive injection activities, the well should be entered multiple times in the injection grid. Each row for the well will represents an injection activity, with a unique CCI number, product, volume, and the hours for that product. The total injection hours for the well cannot exceed the maximum allowed for the production month.

The registry volumetric submission will report each of these products separately with its unique CCI code and hours.

Injection FDC

Information pertaining to injection wells may also be uploaded from FDC. The CCI code is included as one of the data elements on the upload. Below is the FDC record layout for injection wells. If a CCI code is not required the field should be blank.

Below is an example of FDC upload for various injection scenarios:

  • Line 1 is an example of a well with only one product injected for the month. As a result the CCE code is blank

  • Consecutive injection is represented by lines 2-4. The total hours for all the lines must not exceed the maximum hours for the month

  • Lines 5 & 6 represent concurrent injection. The same CCI code is used for both lines. The hours on all lines for the well should also match. If the hours differ, the hours uploaded will be the hours on the last line for that well.
