Introduction

The Qbyte Exchange add-in is available in Excel and provides an easy way for Qbyte CS Land customers to:

  • Update existing data in Qbyte CS Land using Excel, for example, code table cleanup, remarks, area codes, Lessor amounts, etc.

  • Load/insert new data into the Qbyte CS Land database using Excel, for example, Using Qbyte Exchange for Acquisitions .

  • Download Qbyte CS Land data to Excel, for example, if sharing data with a purchaser during a divestiture.

IMPORTANT Considerations

When considering using Qbyte Exchange, keep in mind the functionality is different than what you may be used to in Qbyte CS Land.

  • Qbyte Exchange is not meant to replace Qbyte CS Land for day-to-day file maintenance.  It is another option for mass inserting new files or mass updating existing files directly in the land database.

  • Terminating or Inactivating files should still be done in the Qbyte CS Land application itself to ensure all linked tables are also properly updated.

  • Data that is mandatory in Qbyte CS Land is still mandatory in Qbyte Exchange.  Data must pass validation before it can be saved into the database, similar to the validation in Qbyte CS Land.

  • Are you familiar with code tables and BA codes in Qbyte CS Land?  The data will appear in Qbyte Exchange as codes, not descriptions or names as shown in Qbyte CS Land.

  • Are you familiar with creating Projects in Qbyte CS Land?  Projects are used to retrieve existing files that you wish to update.

  • Be sure to reference the wiki pages below for each module to make note of any nuances in using Qbyte Exchange versus Qbyte CS Land.

  • Assistance from P2 Energy Solutions may still be recommended depending on the complexity of your project for uploading and/or updating the Qbyte CS Land database using Qbyte Exchange.

FAQ and Setup

Please refer to the Qbyte Exchange FAQ and Setup page for system requirements and setup steps for each user wanting to use Qbyte Exchange.

  • Qbyte Exchange users must have an active Qbyte CS Land user id and password to access the database.

  • This is powerful functionality; it will be up to your organization who will have access.  Sometimes a Land Systems Analyst will be the only one with access, sometimes 1 person in each department will be setup, sometimes multiple users will have access with 1 person designated to save the data into the database.

Using Qbyte Exchange

In Excel, after you Login to Qbyte Exchange , the following templates are currently available for selection on the Qbyte Exchange Main Menu :

When the desired module is selected, you will see the specific template get loaded in the spreadsheet and the Qbyte Exchange Main Menu will be replaced with a  Qbyte Exchange Module Menu that has the options you will need to complete in order to update or insert data into the Qbyte CS Land database.
