Project Overview

 

Accessing Project

1. Open the Select CS Project window using either:

  • The Project icon on the toolbar:

     

  • The Select → Project menu option,

OR:

  • For Administrators, the Admin menu option.

This opens the Select CS Project window.

The user will see existing projects to which they have access.  Administrators (entering through the Admin menu option) will see all projects. 

2. The following options are presented using the buttons at the bottom of the screen:

a.  Select (after highlighting one of the Projects displayed): This closes the Select CS Project window, leaving the general Qbyte CS Land window open. The user then proceeds normally with selecting/browsing documents in the various modules. Only documents that are included in the Project will be returned. Alternatively, double-clicking the highlighted row has this same functionality. The selected Project will be reflected in the title section.

To return to the Select CS Project window after selecting a project, simply re-select Project ( step 1 above ).

b.  None – This button has two functions. One function is to exit a Project, and the other is to close the CS Select Project window. 

c.  Add – Opens an empty Update CS Project window so that the user can  Create a New Project

d.  Update – Opens the highlighted Project in the Update CS Project to allow the user to update most project data and/or parameters.

Note: The user can only update Projects that they own whereas  Administrators can Update All Projects

e. Filter – Various Project parameters are available to limit the display of the Projects in the Select CS Project window. 

f. Export to  File Terminator  – Allows the user to make mass updates to the Project files.

g. Cancel – Closes the Select CS Project Window. If a user is within a Project, this function does not exit the project.



Update CS PROJECT: General Tab

Below are the guidelines for the various fields:

Description*

Enter a brief, unique description to identify the project.

Type*

Choose the method by which you want the system to select documents for inclusion in the project. This selection will affect appearance of the Selection tab, as explained more fully in that section below. 

Note: This field cannot be edited.



Owner*

Choose the User ID of the person to whom ownership of the project should be assigned. 

Note: Aside from the senior administrator, only the owner of a project with the appropriate security permissions can update the project parameters.

Attributes

These flags indicate how other users will access the documents in the project using the project description.

Note: if both the Closed Project and Shared Access checkboxes are selected, the system greys out the User Access tab.

Comments

(Optional): Enter any additional information pertaining to the project.



Update CS PROJECT: User Access Tab (Optional)

If the Shared Project flag (on the General tab) is not selected, individual users are granted access to the project with the addition of their user IDs.

Note: This tab is greyed out if both the Shared Access and Closed Project flags have been selected on the General tab.

The User Access tab fields are as follows:

User Name*

Select the user ID of the individual to whom access to the project should be granted.

  • To add additional users, select the Add button at the right.

  • To remove a user, highlight the User ID and select Remove.

Closed for user

This flag allows users to be restricted to documents within the Project on an individual basis, and can be used when the Closed Project flag (on the General tab) is not selected.



Update CS PROJECT: Selection Tab

Use the Selection tab to identify the documents to be included the project.

The Project Type was entered on the General tab and determines the selection criteria for the specified Qbyte CS Land module or subsystem. Project Type cannot be edited.

Import functionality is available for a Project Type of Documents or Exchange. this feature is explained further below.

Choose the CS Land Modules from which documents are to be included in the project. 
An option for <All Systems> is provided.

Admin Company or Areaor Division*

Enter the appropriate information using the drop-down list of values or the lookup feature. 

  • Select Add to enter more than one parameter. 

  • Select Remove to delete a parameter. 

  • Import is not available for these types of projects.

Enter the appropriate documents using the lookup feature, or use the Import feature. All subs for the documents will be included. 

  • Select Add to enter more subsystems and documents. 

  • Select Remove to delete a document.

Additional Functionality (in buttons available on the side)

  • Import – List of documents, without sub. 

    • Subsystem is then entered manually.



 Selection Tab Update When Project Type = Exchange

Enter the appropriate documents using the lookup feature or use the Import feature. Subs for the documents must be included. Import is available to bring in lists of files. 

  • Select Add to enter more subsystems/documents/subs. 

  • Select Remove to delete a record.

Source File

This flag, when ticked, indicates documents that are originally added to the project. It is used in the following additional functions discussed below: Rel Docs and Reset Src.

Additional Functionality (Available in buttons on the side)

  • Import

  • Rel Docs – this feature is used to bring files that are related to the project document into the project. A new window opens, and the user can select the related files using the parameters below:

Subsystem*

Select the subsystem to which the related documents belong.

File Status*

Select one of Active, Inactive, or Active and Inactive.

Link Type

Enter the type of relationship between documents by selecting one of Related Docs Only, Implied Links Only, or Related Docs & Implied Links. An Implied Link denotes files linked via a DOI or Royalty.

1. Select Retrieve Data to see the related documents. Highlight files to be returned to the Project (Use Ctrl + Click or Shift + Click or Select All to highlight multiple rows) and then Select to return documents to the Project. 

2. Repeat as necessary to get documents from different subsystems. 

3. The documents are returned to the Select tab with the Source Flag cleared. If documents that are related to these files are desired, the Source Flag should be set so that these files become Source Files and the process can be repeated. 

Documents that are already in the project are not added multiple times.

  • Reset Src – Selecting this button will remove any files where the Source File is not selected. 

  • Print – Sends a list of the files to the user’s default printer.



Selection Tab Update When Project Type = Legal Description

The Selection tab has a separate update window when the Project Type = Legal Desc. As with other project types, select Add to enter multiple parameters.

Survey*

Choose from DLS or NTS by selecting the radio button.

Bottom Right* or Top Left

Blocks (rectangles) of land are identified by defining the Bottom Right corner. The Top Left corner is optional, but will default to the same Twp/Reg,/Mer or Number/Lot/Portion as the Bottom Right if left blank.

DLS: Enter the township (Twp), range (Rge) and meridian (Mer). Section (Sec) is optional, and will be filled with 00 (for Bottom Right) or 99 (Top Left).

NTS: Enter the Number, Lot and Portion. Block is optional, and will be filled with A if Bottom Right or L if Bottom Left.

Additional Functionality (Available in buttons on the side)

  • Remove – If multiple rows exist, ensure that the cursor is in the Survey System box before using this feature to remove a legal description parameter.

  • Detail - Ensure that the cursor is in the Survey System box, then select Detail to edit a legal description parameter.



Deleting a CS PROJECT

1. Highlight the project in the Select CS PROJECT window and select Update.

2. On the General tab of the Update CS Project window, select Remove.

  • A warning will be issued.

3. Select Yes to delete the project.

Projects that have been used by CS Exchange cannot be deleted.

 

Exiting CS PROJECT

1. Open the Select CS PROJECT window (same as Step 1 above).

2. Select the None button at the bottom.
